Jim Croker:

Artist Statement:

My work is related to nature, human existence and my own conscious and subconscious perceptions.  Color vibrancy, frequency, personal symbolism and juxtaposition are elements I use to create images that waver between what I randomly perceive and what the universe creates around me.  Every living moment is unique.  The work reflects the timeline of my life which is naturally subject to all types of uncontrolled influences and energies.

I consider our everyday lives a phenomenon filled with symbolic and potential meaning. We are connected to nature and each other in what often feels like an overwhelming and confusing way.  The creative potential in each of our thoughts and moments whether real or imaginary, intellectual or emotional can be converted into objects that transmit energies of knowledge and inspiration.  This energy is a gift of our Universe.  Energy constructs are created as randomly as they are perceived.  My work explores the range between what is real and what is imagined -- in what is created in a painting and what exists before us.

I attempt to transmit emotional and spiritual vibrations through the use of expressive color variations, line, personal symbolism.  The Universe compels me to create and I act as a conduit of some type to keep the energy flowing  -- it is my form of worship and healing.  The experience of my art is a chance combination of my tiny input and the Universe’s gigantic influence.  The power of physics upon us outweighs all intentions.  The body of my work symbolically reflects my visions with a broad acceptance of all of my life's conditions.
